Who runs Hives?
Hives is the trading name of Giovanni Callebaut, Watergraafstraat 4, Ghent, Belgium. Enterprise number: 0705.893.744. VAT: BE 0705.893.744.
Giovanni is responsible for how Hives uses your enquiry. You can contact him by email or write to the address above.
Before you send
Hives does not send your draft while you type. The message window keeps your words on the current page. Copy message puts the text on your clipboard. Opening an email draft still requires you to send it from your email app.
A short description is enough. Please leave out passwords, payment details, health information, payroll files and other sensitive personal records.
When you send an enquiry
Sending the form sends your name, reply email, message, any selected package and the notice version to Formspree, which processes submissions and forwards them to Giovanni’s Gmail. Formspree retains submission records. Your browser connects directly to Formspree, which also receives connection information such as your IP address and browser details.
A confirmation means the form service accepted the submission. It does not mean Giovanni has read it or that an email has already arrived. If submission cannot be confirmed, the pop-up keeps your words available and explains your options.
This public form does not save enquiries in the Hives website database. If you email hello@hives.gent directly, your email service sends the message to Combell, which forwards it to Giovanni’s Gmail inbox without using Formspree. Hives uses a forwarding address; it has no separate Combell mailbox.

Why Hives uses your information
Hives uses your details to understand your request, reply, prepare a proposal when requested and manage the conversation. If you ask about an agreement with you personally, the legal basis is taking steps at your request before a contract. For general questions or when you represent a business, Hives relies on its legitimate interest in answering and managing business enquiries. Necessary technical processing supports operation and protection against abuse.
You choose whether to get in touch. A reply address and enough information to understand the request are needed to answer. Sending a message does not subscribe you to marketing or commit you to a package. Hives does not use this contact flow for solely automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects.
Hosting and service providers
OpenAI Sites hosts this website using Cloudflare infrastructure. Serving pages involves connection information such as the requested address, IP address and browser details. Formspree handles form submissions; Combell forwards messages sent directly to the Hives email address; Google provides Giovanni’s Gmail. Their privacy information explains their processing and contact routes.
These services can process information outside the European Economic Area. Formspree describes US hosting and reliance on standard contractual clauses. Google and OpenAI describe their international processing and transfer safeguards in the policies linked below. You can contact Giovanni for information about the safeguards relevant to your enquiry.

Cookies and tracking
Contact statistics and Website activity are separate optional choices. Each is collected only when available and you accept that purpose. Privacy choices lets you reject either purpose or turn both off. The details below explain their current availability and exactly what is counted and stored. Hives does not add advertising pixels, session recording, visitor profiles or network-based owner guesses. Fonts and images are served with this website.
Cloudflare sets the __cf_bm security cookie to help distinguish automated traffic and protect this site from abuse. Cloudflare states that it expires after 30 minutes of continuous inactivity. This is hosting protection, not Hives advertising measurement.
The form connects to Formspree only when you send. The pop-up sends without browser credentials; a standard form submission opens Formspree’s response page, where its own cookie and privacy information applies. Hosting and form services still process technical connection information for operation and security. Owner sign-in is separate from browsing this public site.
Keeping and removing information
Hives reviews enquiry records monthly. When a conversation does not lead to work, Hives normally removes its enquiry copies six months after the last meaningful contact, or sooner when no longer needed. If work is agreed, relevant correspondence is kept for the service and applicable record-keeping or legal-claim needs. Unnecessary information is removed separately.
Removal includes checking copies accessible to Hives in Gmail and Formspree. Provider logs and backups have their own retention arrangements; deleting an inbox message does not instantly erase every copy. Where a record is required for a legal obligation or claim, its use is limited to that purpose. Minimal information about a marketing objection may be kept to prevent further unwanted contact.
Your privacy questions
You can ask Giovanni for access, a copy, correction or deletion of your personal information. You can also request restriction, object to processing based on legitimate interests, and request portability where applicable. Consent, where used, can be withdrawn without affecting earlier lawful processing.
Hives may need proportionate information to verify a request. Please do not send identity documents unless requested for a specific reason. You can also complain to Belgium’s Data Protection Authority.

Accept optional and Reject optional apply to the two statistics purposes shown here. Settings lets you choose each separately. A saved decision closes the panel immediately. Closing or Done never accepts an undecided purpose.
The functional sessionStorage entry hives.privacy-interface-session remembers your privacy-panel language and that you dismissed it while moving between pages in the same tab. It holds no visitor identifier, enquiry, browsing history or analytics permission and is not sent to Hives. It normally ends when the tab closes, although browser session restore may retain it. Explicit statistics choices are stored separately for up to six months as described below. If browser storage is blocked or cleared, the site may ask again; contact still works.

What these statistics are for
If you accept, Hives counts a few actions and results in the pop-up contact form to see what might need improving. Giovanni can read the daily totals. This does not add advertising, visitor profiles or a marketing subscription.
Six separate totals
- Send attempts stopped by a form check

- Submissions accepted by Formspree
- Submissions rejected by Formspree
- Send attempts with an unconfirmed result
- Requests to open an email draft from the message window
Acceptance means Formspree accepted the submission. It does not confirm an email arrived or that Giovanni read it. Requesting an email draft does not mean an email was sent. These totals count actions, not people, leads or sales.
The separate contact page, email links outside the message window and visits without the relevant scripts are not included. Copying a message, opening or closing the window and typing are not counted. Missing counts do not prove that nobody used the form.
What is included
Each statistics request contains only the statistics version, an action type and, where relevant, a result category. Hives adds the UTC date and increases one daily total. We keep no individual event history or visitor identifier. Statistics do not contain names, email addresses, messages, field values, selected packages, page addresses, referral information or IP addresses, and are not linked to enquiries.
Remembering your choice
After you choose, this browser stores your choice, the notice version and its expiry date for six months, whether you accept or reject. There is no unique identifier. The preference is kept in local storage on this device and is not sent with statistics. After it expires, or if this notice changes, statistics stay off until you choose again.

How long totals are kept
The report covers today and the previous 89 dates, using UTC. Older daily totals are deleted when the statistics service handles a new count or Giovanni opens the report. If neither happens, older totals may remain until the next cleanup. This is not an automatic deletion exactly 90 days after collection.
Hosting and connection information
The counts are processed on Hives's existing OpenAI Sites hosting, which uses Cloudflare infrastructure. Hosting services receive technical connection information, such as IP addresses and browser details, when handling requests. Hives does not copy this information into the statistics. The hosting section of this privacy information explains the providers and international processing. Form messages still follow the separate Formspree and Gmail route described above.
Changing your mind
Use Privacy choices to turn statistics off in one click. This stops new statistics requests; a request already sent may still finish. Once counts have been combined into daily totals, we cannot pick out and remove one visitor's contribution. Turning statistics off does not interrupt your enquiry or prevent you from contacting Giovanni.

Aanvaarding betekent dat Formspree de inzending heeft aanvaard. Dit bevestigt niet dat een e-mail is aangekomen of dat Giovanni je bericht heeft gelezen. Een e-mail willen opstellen betekent niet dat die is verstuurd. Deze totalen tellen acties, geen personen, mogelijke klanten of verkopen.
De aparte contactpagina, e-maillinks buiten het berichtvenster en bezoeken waarbij de nodige scripts niet werken, vallen hier niet onder. Een bericht kopiëren, het venster openen of sluiten en typen worden niet geteld. Ontbrekende aantallen bewijzen niet dat niemand het formulier heeft gebruikt.

Hoe lang bewaren we de totalen?

Van gedachten veranderen
Via Privacykeuzes kun je statistieken met één klik uitschakelen. Daarna worden geen nieuwe statistiekverzoeken verstuurd; een al verstuurd verzoek kan nog worden verwerkt. Zodra tellingen zijn samengevoegd in dagtotalen, kunnen we de bijdrage van één bezoeker niet apart terugvinden en verwijderen. Statistieken uitschakelen onderbreekt je aanvraag niet en verhindert niet dat je contact opneemt met Giovanni.

What Website activity is for
If you accept, Hives counts a few page and shop-card actions to help Giovanni decide how to improve these pages and ideas. This is a separate choice from Contact statistics. It does not add advertising, visitor profiles or a marketing subscription.
What we count
- A supported page being shown while the browser tab is visible
- The shop-ideas heading appearing on screen
- A shop card being opened to show its details
- A contact button for a shop card being used to start a message
These count observations and actions, not distinct people or confirmed reading. A shop contact action does not mean a message was sent, delivered or read, or that the person owns that business. The counts are not leads or sales.
The supported pages are the homepage, the Ghent business page and the customer-ready guide. Shop counts cover only the published Broesse, Deduytschaever and Ovius cards on the homepage. While you have accepted, the first eligible page observation, shop-section observation and each card's first opening or contact action are counted per page load. Earlier actions are not saved for counting later. Accepting after arrival can count the page currently shown; it does not reconstruct the visit. Other pages, typing, message contents and off-site activity are not counted. The counts can be incomplete when choices, scripts, network requests or recording limits prevent collection. Correction and removal actions are excluded.
What is included
Each activity request contains only a statistics version, one action type, a code for one supported page and, where needed, a code for one published shop card. Hives adds the UTC date and increases a daily total. We keep no individual event history or visitor identifier. These totals do not contain names, email addresses, message or form contents, package choices, full page addresses, referring websites, campaign tags or IP addresses. They are not linked to enquiries or across visits.
Remembering this separate choice
After you choose, this browser saves your Website activity choice, this notice version and an expiry date in local storage on this device. The choice is valid for six months whether you accept or reject, independently of Contact statistics. It has no unique identifier and is not sent with the activity counts. When it expires, or this notice changes, Website activity stays off until you choose again. Local storage does not remove itself automatically; you can clear the saved entry in your browser's site-data settings.

Use Turn statistics off beside Privacy choices to turn both optional purposes off in one click. To turn only Website activity off, open Privacy choices and choose Reject website activity; this leaves your Contact statistics choice unchanged. Withdrawal stops new requests for the purpose you turn off; a request already sent may still finish. Counts already combined into daily totals cannot be traced back to you for individual removal. Turning statistics off does not interrupt the site or your enquiry.

We tellen weergaven en acties, geen afzonderlijke personen of bevestigde lezingen. Een contactactie bij een zaak betekent niet dat een bericht is verstuurd, aangekomen of gelezen, of dat de persoon eigenaar is van die zaak. De aantallen zijn geen mogelijke klanten of verkopen.
Dit geldt voor de startpagina, de pagina voor Gentse bedrijven en de gids om je website klaar te maken voor klanten. De tellingen van zaken gelden alleen voor de gepubliceerde kaarten van Broesse, Deduytschaever en Ovius op de startpagina. Zolang je toestemming geeft, tellen we per geladen pagina de eerste geldige paginaweergave, de eerste weergave van het onderdeel en per kaart de eerste opening of contactactie. Eerdere acties worden niet bewaard om later alsnog te tellen. Geef je pas na aankomst toestemming, dan kan de pagina die op dat moment wordt getoond worden geteld; het eerdere bezoek wordt niet gereconstrueerd. Andere pagina's, typen, berichtinhoud en activiteiten buiten deze website worden niet geteld. Van gedachten veranderen
Gebruik Statistieken uitschakelen naast Privacykeuzes om beide optionele doelen met één klik uit te schakelen. Wil je alleen Websitegebruik uitschakelen, open dan Privacykeuzes en kies Websitegebruik weigeren; je keuze voor Contactstatistieken blijft dan ongewijzigd. Na intrekking worden geen nieuwe verzoeken verstuurd voor het doel dat je uitschakelt; een al verstuurd verzoek kan nog worden verwerkt. Tellingen die al in dagtotalen zijn samengevoegd, kunnen we niet naar jou terugleiden om ze apart te verwijderen. Statistieken uitschakelen onderbreekt de website of je aanvraag niet.
